Home Decor: My Bedroom

So I have been renovating my room and redesigning it for a while. I had my walls painted lavender for quiet a while I was just getting tired of the wall colour and wanted to give my room a new look. So I repainted my room a more of a darker lavender colour close to grey. I'm liking my wall colour allot.

The theme that I had in my head was a black and white theme so I went to target and picked up some pillows, cushions and sheets. I found the nicest set of sheets and cushions at target to go with what I wanted my room to look like.

I found this beautiful candle to put on my side table (It smells like heaven! The name of the scent is midnight orchid).  It gives off a really nice sweet smell I'm also loving how it goes with my lamp. I also bought some nice flowers to put on my side table (flowers just make me happy).

I love to be organized and I wanted nice things to organize my makeup and beauty products in and I found these nice cute boxes at the dollar store that I'm using to store my makeup in. They are looking really good on top of my dressing table.

I also found these 2 things at the dollar store and I'm thinking of getting a few more. I used the lipstick organizer holder thing (i really don't know what its actually called so bare with me lol) to put on top  of my dressing table to hold the lipsticks I use everyday. The little organizer basket I found is so convenient to store things like bobby pins (so I won't lose them), pencil sharpeners, wedged makeup sponges, and my eyelash curler.

So these are the few things I bought for my room. I'm still working on it and might post how my whole room looks after I'm all done with it.

Here is some more bedroom inspiration that I'm liking:

These are some things I found on the etsy website for room inspiration:

This is one of my favourite Audrey Hepburn quote: "For beautiful eyes look for the good in others; for beautiful lips speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone."

Favourite Summer Nails

These are my favourite summer nail products that I'm loving

  • Essie Nail Polish: Muchi Muchi - I love this summer nail colour. Its just simple nude pinky colour. This nail colour will probably look good on all skin tones. I thought this nail polish would require at least 3 - 4 coats for it to show up but it only took me two coats for the colour to look like how it appears in the bottle.
  • Sally Hansen Mega Shine top coat - This is a really good top coat. You will have to let your nail polish dry for a few minutes before putting this on. This top coat dries in minutes. It finishes off with a nice shine. It claims that it makes your nail polish last up to 10 days and it does make my nail polish last longer. I'm liking this top coat but still in search for better ones!

Nivea Mattifying Day Care Moisturizer

For those who have oily to combination skin I believe I found a really good moisturizer for you to try out! A moisturizer is essential for both dry or oily skin. If you got oily skin and believe that moisturizing your face will make it more oily you are wrong! When you cleanse your face and don't use a moisturizer to moisturize it your skin will start producing its own oils. In order to prevent your skin from producing more oil  we have to apply a bit of moisturizer to keep our skin hydrated for the day.

This is the moisturizer that I use currently use. This moisturizer is suited for those who have oily to combination skin. This moisturizer is made out of a oil- free formula and is  suppose to moisturize while it mattifies the look of your skin and reduces it's shine. This product claims that it won't clog your pores and will leave your skin looking healthy, beautiful, shine free and matte.

To start off I'm going to say I'm really loving this moisturizer. Some moisturizers I used in the past did leave my skin oily and greasy looking. This moisturizer works with my skin to help keep it matte and shine free. I wear this moisturizer underneath my makeup and I feel like it helps keep my face and makeup looking fresh all day long.

This moisturizer is made with ocean algae and hydra IQ. Ocean algae contains compounds, sea minerals, antioxidants that offers many benefits for our skin.  Ocean algae helps prevent wrinkles, dark circles, under eye puffiness, dull skin, it soothes irritation, and is enriched with antioxidants and helps with acne and breakouts. I have been using this moisturizer for a while and my skin just looks more  healthier, hydrated and glowy (if that's even a word).

Overall, I'm really loving this stuff! Great product!

Beauty 101: Growing Long Healthy Hair

Uses of olive oil to make your hair grow faster:

Last post for today!  Thought I would blog about what my hair has gone through for the past year ...

So my hair has been previously processed with with bleaching and lightening a couple of times which is very damaging to your hair(I have pretty strong hair since it had been bleached allot of times in the past year and its surprising to me that it never fell out!). I went  to the salon and got an ombre done to my  hair the first time and I liked it for a while then I went back to black hair then dyed it ombre again by myself and now I'm back to black! I know I must be hair bipolar or something! Well now I'm deciding to stick to my natural hair colour and I'm not thinking of dying it again for at least a long while...

So I went and chopped half my hair off to get rid of all the damaged ends. I now have to let my hair grow out healthy. I usually get trims every 4 - 6 months. If I go to the hair salon before 4 months it would be most likely be to just get face framing layers.  I don't like going to get trims that often so in order to keep my hair healthy and nourished I usually deep condition it with olive oil.  Olive oil provides many benefits for your hair and even your skin!

I have started using olive oil for the past year since I got my hair lightened with bleach and wanted to keep it healthy. Olive oil has proven to me that it is really effective at keeping hair healthy. I didn't really see that many spilt ends or discovered any breakage after all the bleaching my hair had gone through. Olive oil helped my hair become really soft and silky. Olive oil is also effective at making your hair grow faster (not even kidding).

The benefits I found are listed on this site

Hot towel hair treatment  every 2 - 4 weeks using Olive Oil (This is what I usually do):

  1. First I warm up the olive oil
  2. Wait at least 3 - 5 min for it to cool down  just a little (don't want to burn yourself!)
  3. I then distribute it evenly onto my hair
  4. I then I grab a towel and run it under really warm water
  5. Now I wrap my hair with the towel and let it sit for at least 20 - 30 mins
  6. Lastly, I wash out all the oil from my hair with my shampoo and condition it with a conditioner
  7. After  you do this you will discover how soft your hair feels and how silky it looks!

Drug Store Lip & Eye Product Swatches & Reviews

These are some drug store products I'm loving right now. I'm loving these summer lip colours and this neutral eyeshadow quad by Marcelle.

All of these lip products are nicely pigmented and really creamy and moisturizing. Here are the swatches of the lip products. Starting from the top:

  1.  Loreal Intense: Color Riche 288 Intense fuchsia  (it also has written on it that it is for brunettes. I believe this line has created shades for different people according to their hair color/skintype which is pretty good so that its easier to figure out what colour is right for you). This is a really nice fuchsia colour. This colour is really good to wear for the summer.
  2. Rimmel: Kate Moss Lipstick number 90 (Black packaging). This is a really nice raspberry red colour. These lipsticks I find are so creamy and moisturizing. They look matte on your lips but don't dry out or look chalky at the end of the day.
  3. Rimmel Lasting lip pencil: 049 Natural This lipstick is a natural nude. It pairs nicely with the Kate Moss lipstick in the colour 105.
  4. Rimmel: Kate Moss 105 This is a nice nude colour with a pink undertone.
  5. Rimmel: Apocalips Lip Lacquer: 101 celestial This is a really nice everyday lip colour. This lip product is so creamy and feels like some kind of a lip moisturizer.  I believe this is more of a lipstick than a lipgloss. I'm really loving this product and there are other really nice bold and neutral shades this line offers.  It stays on for a long time and doesn't fade quickly. This one didn't leave a stain on my lips but the bold colours might will. I want to buy some more colours!!

These are the swatches from the Marcelle Eyeshadow Quad. I'm really liking this quad. These are just neutral shades of eyeshadow colours that you can use for your everyday makeup looks.

Olay Fresh Effects: Shine Shine Go Away Cleanser Review

So, to start off I'm going to say I'm REALLY loving this cleanser and the electrical cleansing brush that comes with it.

To let everyone know my skin type is:

  • Oily to combination skin
  • Sensitive to some facial cleansers and does get irritated

I picked up this Olay Fresh Effects - Shine minimizing cleanser from the drug store 2 days ago and I'm already loving it.  The box kind of caught my attention so I was so impulsive to buy it.  I have oily to combination skin and  I do get annoyed by the shine some cleansers leave so I was excited to try this out to see if this does what it says it does. This cleanser is suppose to leave your skin feeling clean and shine free.

I'm going to say that I believe it really does what it says it does! After cleansing my face with this cleanser my face felt SOO CLEAN, refreshed, and it left a healthy glow. The electrical brush that came with it is really good at removing all that  build up dirt and makeup! The bristles of the brush are like rubber which gently massages and exfoliates your skin to give you that really clean, refreshing feel and healthy glow.  Overall, I'm loving this duo and recommend it to those with oily to combination skin like me.

Marc Jacobs - Magic Marc'er Precision Pen Eyeliner

This is the Magic Marc'er Precision Pen Eyeliner by Marc Jacobs. Usually I use liquid eyeliner that comes with the brush to apply eyeliner on and I don't really have a problem with it. This a precision eyeliner marker which makes applying on your eyeliner more easier without any hassle. I don't think you can make a mistake with this eyeliner pen (I just hate it when I mess up on drawing my eyeliner and then try to correct it without starting all over). If your looking for that eyeliner that can save you the hassle and patience for getting that perfect winged eye I believe this is it.

This eyeliner doesn't smudge it lasts all day long and comes out really black. There could be some alternative drug store brands that can compare to this eyeliner. I will try to find out which compares to this one. So far I'm liking this eyeliner and use it frequently.
